Take me to your favourite place

Between November and December 2018, I had the chance to pass several weeks at the Villa Empain in Bruxelles in the cadre of the residence for artists. I worked around the idea of topographical restrictions. My departure point for this research was the ensemble of the Monasteries of Mont Athos in the north of Greece that are still forbiding the access to women. I realised a series of conversations with six artists and one architecte living or passing by Bruxelles. This project continued with CIFAS. Our collaboration started in August 2018 with a workshop in the cadre of Signal Festival#7 et culminates with this publication. A selection of fragments of the interviews, textes of the participants from the workshop and my own thoughts and ideas come together in this publication. Take me to your favourite place is an audio journal that takes a starting point my passage from Brussels.Through subjective geography that observes the city of Brussels and reinventes the city and its minor news stories in order to create a movement between the cityscape of a capital that is in constant transition. This work is the continuation of a workshop that took place between the 27th and the 31st of August 2019 during Signal#7 /La Joie du désaccord / The Joy of Disagreement in Bruxelles.
Take me to your Favourite Place is an audio publication that departs from my residency in the Villa Empain in Bruxelles between November and December 2018 and culminates in the occasion of Festival Signal#7 in August 2018. With the support of CIFAS, this publication marks my passage from the city of Bruxelles through various encounters, a workshop and interviews. Through subjective geography, this object suggests to think around how people passing by or living in Bruxelles experience topographical restrictions today. Author: Maria Sideri Texts: Maria Sideri, Madame Lowies et extracts from different conversations. Production: Mathilde Florica, Charlotte David. Photography: Bea Borgers. Editorial concept: Aline MelaetPrinting: Graphius, Bruxelles, September 2019.
